Description
Mesquite Flat Dunes is a popular spot in Death Valley. We’ve visited this location numerous times during our visits here. The dunes have some nice shapes and wonderful leading lines in the right light. They also have plenty of visitors. A sunrise shoot is the best light to photograph them in my opinion with the wonderful shadows and golden color light.
This shot was a tough one to get. Not because it’s hard to get to, just the opposite. Mesquite Flat Dunes are just off the road near Stovepipe Wells in Death Valley. And because of that they are heavily visited and tracked up. So to get a photograph with freshly wind sculpted dunes you have to wait for a windstorm. We had planned for an extended stay and when we saw that there were high winds predicted we decided to head up to Stovepipe Wells and see what was happening. In short, we got sand blasted. Two days of 30-40 mph winds. Sand was everywhere. But on the third day, it was a crisp, clear morning with no wind. We set out early to a spot we had scouted earlier and waited for sunrise. And what a glorious sunrise it was.
This fine art print is created on 100% cotton rag, acid and lignin-free, archival paper along with top quality Lucia Pro pigment inks. This heavy stock paper is a joy to print on and hold in your hands. It is personally printed by me and hand signed and dated. Currently available in three paper sizes. Actual image size is slightly less due to the white print borders.
The print is packaged in a beautiful presentation box which is then enclosed in a sturdy shipping box for protection. Due to its size, the 17″x25″ version is shipped in a sturdy tube rather than a presentation box. Included is a certificate of authenticity and use and care recommendations. Ready for framing or mounting by your favorite frame shop.
