So, we’ve been away from the website for a couple weeks. We were out on the east coast but we didn’t travel in the motorhome. We had an important family event. We became grandparents!
Karen flew out ahead of the birth to help our daughter with her first delivery. She and her husband live in the NYC area. I stayed behind and tended to the boat and motorhome for a bit. Once the baby was born, I drove out with another daughter to spend some time with the new family. We decided not to take the motorhome since they live so close to the city. Finding a campground in that part of the country was tough plus I just didn’t want to drive it on those highways. Karen and I lived out there for awhile during one of the many corporate moves we made so we knew the area pretty well.
Cityscapes are not my usual venues for photography but the New York City skyline is pretty iconic. It’s best viewed from the New Jersey side of the Hudson River. We had some nice weather so we all packed up (baby included) and headed out for some sightseeing. We didn’t stay out long of course and only walked a short distance but we did stop at this viewpoint to grab a shot of NYC.
This was a good example of the need for a second, smaller camera to carry around for times where the big DSLR was just too much. This image was taken with the Sony α6000 mirrorless camera. It’s a 24MP camera with the APS-C sensor format. It takes great images and has most of the camera functions of my big Nikon. The lenses are fairly sharp as well. I talk more about that camera in this post here.
We made a quick roadtrip “home” and we’re now back in northern Michigan. We now resume our regular programming.
