Cactus Flowers in New Mexico is an interesting perspective. The flowers are amazingly vibrant and beautiful but coming out of a very dry and seemingly barren environment. This was amplified by the fact that we were in the Stay Home Stay Safe period of the coronavirus pandemic when this photograph was made. A trying time for everyone. Somewhat of a metaphor of the times we were in. Even in very difficult conditions, beautiful things can emerge.

Karen and I were on an afternoon walk nearby to where we were staying when we came across this group of cactus plants. They were all sporting beautiful spring flowers so we stopped to take a closer look. The detail and crispness of the flowers really grabbed my attention. I hadn’t done much macro photography in awhile and since we were under a travel restriction I decided why not. I came back with camera and tripod along with a dedicated macro lens and spent about an hour photographing the many groups of flowers. This one seemed the most pleasing. Hope you like it as much as I do.

This Roadtrip Collection print is created on a high quality semi-gloss photo paper utilizing Canon ChromaLife dye inks. It is personally printed by me and is currently available in two paper sizes. Actual image size is slightly less due to the white print borders.
